Storyboard Text

  • Sure, Follow me.
  • Can you explain what liquefaction is?
  • For Liquefaction to happen we need three ingredients. Loosely packed soils, saturated soils and shaking.
  • What do these ingredients do?
  • The first thing that happens is water usually trapped between particles is release by the movement of seismic waves.
  • So the water is trapped in the loosely packed soil?
  • When the particles move apart from the shaking the water being under pressure moves into all the spaces making the soil act like a liquid.
