In the Fall of the House of Usher, a childhood friend of the narrator had asked for him to come visit through a letter, as he was very sick. The house was very gloomy.
The friend, Roderick, seemed off. He had a sister, but they proclaimed her dead. Roderick and the narrator buried her inside the house so that no one would find her body.

The narrator told Roderick that he was being crazy, so he was very surprised when he turned around to see the sister in the door way.
Roderick died when he saw his sister, from fear. The narrator runs out of the house, as it crumbles.
