  • Scene 1
  • Fair is foul, and foul is fair, hover through the fog and filthy air.
  • Scene 3
  • Good sir, why do you start and seem to fear things that do sound so fair?
  • Hail, Macbeth!
  • Hail, Macbeth!
  • Scene 4
  • I have begun to plant thee and will labor to make thee full of growing.
  • The three witches meet in the dark forest, and discuss when is the next time they will meet again. They desire to meet on the battlefield, where they will see Macbeth.
  • Scene 5
  • Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o' th' milk of human kindness.
  • Banquo and Macbeth encounters the three witches, who tells them that Macbeth will be Thane of Glamis and Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth wishes to hear more about his future, but then the witches vanished.
  • Scene 6
  • King Duncan is extremely proud of Macbeth's accomplishments, and makes him Thane of Cawdor. Then he learns about Malcolm becoming the Prince of Cumberland, and he began to plot their murders as Macbeth wants more power.
  • Scene 7
  • Prithee, peace. I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares do more is none.
  • Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth, who is rejoicing over the fact that he was become Thane of Cawdor, but she realizes that in order for Macbeth to gain more power, he must kill the king. However, she does not believe that Macbeth is capable of committing that act, and therefore she thinks about killing the king herself so that she can have more power as well.
  • Lady Macbeth has a murderous plot against the king, but she must act kind and gentle whenever he is around so that no one gets suspicious. The king enters Macbeth's home, oblivious to Lady Macbeth's plan of murder.
  • During dinner, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth sneak off, where he no longer wants to kill the king that day. However, Lady Macbeth persuades him to change his mind by insulting his pride and ego, and by coming up with a precise plan to murder King Duncan and to get away with it.
