Former army commander Napoleon Bonaparte crowns himself emperor of France. When he became emperor life in France improved immediately. As emperor he restored order in France, and supported the revolution.
Napoleon leads his army to many victories. They were rarely defeated, he "lost" to the Russians, because they burned their food sources. After he returned from his first exile he was finally defeated for the last time at Waterloo
After Napoleon's final loss at Waterloo he was exiled for the second time to St. Helena, a small island in the south Atlantic. He died there in 1821.
