Ian and Berta talk about how the homeless peoples lives is like in both Guantamela and Canada. Chapters (7-8)
Spaghetti Juice Bread
Ian's class learns about Canada's role in peacekeeping, and the long history Canada has had in this act to stop violence. One important group they learn about are the soldiers called blue berets. Chapters (8-9)
Ian does a presentation on his new volunteer job. nobody seems to understand the seriousness of the event and are laughing about it, this makes Ian mad and upset. Chapters (8-9)
Three friendly Christian women join the soup kitchen but they are "Do-Gooders" Chapters (9-10)
Ian interviews Sarge about his life in the army for a school assignment that will grant him extra credit. Chapters (9-10)
When Sarge asks Ian if he knows about the tragedy that happened in a country called Rwanda, Ian does not know a lot about it. Because of Ian's lack of knowledge in the tragedy Sarge gets upset and leaves the soup kitchen Chapters (9-10)
