Natural Selection of a Grizzly Bear

Storyboard Text

  • 1. Variation
  • Hi, I am a Grizzly bear.
  • Hi, I am Polar bear. Zzz
  • 2. Inheritance
  • 3. Suitability to a specific environment
  • I don't suit well in this forestry environment. Let me go where I can also be camouflaged.
  • 1. There is a variation between the Grizzly bear which are predominantly found in Alaska and America. It is a subspecies of a Polar bear, residing closer to the north pole in Greenland and Alaska.
  • 4. Differences in reproductive process
  • Mr Grizzly bear
  • Family
  • Mrs Grizzly bear
  • 2. Genetic fur tone colour inheritance allows the Grizzly bear being a dark brown colour, make it highly similar to tundra forest common colours.
  • 4. Differences in reproductive process continued
  • Mr Grizzly bear
  • Mrs Polar bear
  • Mrs Polar bear
  • Mr Grizzly bear
  • 3. There is a variation of bears but the dark brown colour adaptation of the Grizzly bear makes it less visible and more active in the forest. Allowing it to hunt more food because of its ability to blend in with the forest colours.
  • 5. Population level changes
  • I'm endangered
  • 4. Reproductive success resulting because of the survival of the Grizzly bear being able pass down its genes to its offspring. The Grizzly bear being able to have more offspring due to its suitability with the tundra forestry environment.
  • We are their offspring
  • 4. Continued: The cross breeding of the Grizzly bear puts a risk in the success of its reproduction because less offspring will come of the original grizzly bear. Infertility may occur from the offspring stopping the reproduction of upcoming grizzly bear generations.
  • We are a Family
  • To sustain my type of species. I must go to an environment where I can survive best.
  • 5. Over a period of time the population by increasing or decreasing depending on the success or failure of this frequency trait. Promoting evolution of the Grizzly bear if succeeding and facing endangerment or extinction if failing. Overtime the advantageous trait dominates and may become the fixed trait( the only trait in the population).
