  • Paine created the book, The Age of Reason.  Deism was becoming popular and believed churches were corrupt.
  • Institution of slavery is bad.
  • North
  • South
  • The Bible allows and speaks of slavery, so it must be.
  • Before: Women were the moral leaders of the house. Men seen as strong and crude.
  • Women's Rights
  • After: Women were now entering the workforce and wanted a political say.
  • Women met at the Seneca Falls Convention to write the Declaration of Women's Rights.
