I don't want to die. but there is no use. i love you, elliot.
Elliot and Michelle are peasants living in the 1100s. They are married, and Elliot works harvesting food, making a small living. Their entire lives change when Europe becomes infected by the bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death. Some believed that it originated form China, traveled along the silk road, and ended up in Europe because of merchants and traders.
How will she reach salvation if she can't rest in peace?
Michelle works as a nurse and is regularly exposed to people that are infected by the plague. She works hard and for a while she believes that she is immune, but one day she shows symptoms of the Black Death. Black and blue pustules appear all over her body and she begins to vomit frequently.
We deserve more money than this!
Elliot becomes depressed when Michelle gets sick, but with the small amount of money he is payed for his work in the field, he is unable to pay for medicine from the plague doctors, and because of this, he can only wait for the worst.
When Michelle ends up dying, Elliot is not only grieving, he is enraged. He wasn't able to pay for Michelle's medicine, and now he isn't able to pay for a proper funeral for his late wife.
Elliot is working twice as hard in the fields because so many people have died. He can barely provide enough money to feed himself, and suddenly, he finds himself without any money at all.
Elliot decides to stand up for himself. With a few acquaintances, they go to the authorities and demand more money, or they will stop working the fields. Because they rely on the peasants to supply them with food, the King, and his noblemen and women have no choice but to hand over the money. When this happened, it contributed to decline of feudalism because it shifted a little bit of the power to the peasants instead of the royals.
