Storyboard Text

  • "Hope" by: Jade Booska
  • I work for White Castle, down the street from my  house, as a waitress in Bronx, NY
  • Person vs Person
  • Person vs Society
  • My name is Mildred Ruth Charles. I am the daughter of two deceased German-American immigrants. I live with my foster mother, Scarlotta, and my older brother Angelo.
  • This is Scarlotta. She's an alcoholic and she doesn't have a job. When Angelo and I are home, she beats Angelo whenever I do something "wrong". She uses any chance to hurt him. She jeers at us about how we are such big failures in life.
  • This is my brother Angelo. He is marginalized at work by the other workers because he can't speak English very well but he understands what people say in English. He works in a factory.
