  • King Edward the confessor ruled over the Anglo-Saxon people of england for 23 years. He died on Jan. 5th,1066. The leading contender to the throne was Harnold Godwinson, the second most powerful man in england and an advisor to king edward.Harold's powerful position and relationship to edward made him the logical successor to the throne
