Storyboard Text

  • Gravity is a key force in his fall,as it is what causes him to fall towards the Earth and reach a terminal velocity. He is falling towards Earth because of Gravity. Earth has a gravitational pull, and so it pulls everyone down and gets weaker with distance.
  • If you fall for long enough (or fast enough) you will create friction with the air, as both the man and the air are going against each other, creating a force we call Friction that is made when two surfaces rub against each other creating Friction.
  • The Earth is one giant Magnet! When using magnets, metal like iron, cobalt and nickel are attracted to them. Magnets attract and repel certain objects and they usually react to their environment. Magnetism is the force that a magnet exerts. A magnets forces go from the north to the south, meaning that opposites attract and similarities repel.
  • When Bungee Jumping, Elastic Force is constantly applied. The cord that holds the jumper stretches and pulls which is the application of Elastic Force. The elastic cord creates resistance and imposes a force when the cord is stretched far enough.
  • This man has had a very long day learning about the Forces and needs to take a nap! Even when sleeping Friction is keeping him from falling off his couch and onto the floor. The couch springs are also using elastic force to make it more comfortable for him.
  • These forces are all around you, affecting many aspects of your daily life.It may affect you from simple things like how to walk, and progress to larger things like skydiving. These forces affect your life everyday and it is important to see them around you. Look around you. Do you see any of the four forces at work?
