Storyboard Description

I will demonstrate three scenarios where I regularly give praise during my lessons.

Storyboard Text

  • Amy, let me see what you have written so far.
  • Great job!  I really like that you began the sentence with a big letter, wrote neatly on the lines, and made finger spaces.  Now what goes at the end?
  • That's right!  Please keep up the good work.
  • A period!
  • My kindergarten students are working on a writing assignment.  They are writing simple sentences that begin with a capital letter, have proper spaces, and end with a period.  I am walking around the room observing their progress.
  • What do you like to eat?
  • I begin to check my student's work.
  • Brandon. Thank-you for raising your hand.  What do you like to eat?
  • I check to make sure their sentences start with a capital letter, are written neatly on the lines, have finger spaces, and end with a period.  Then I give them feedback on what they are doing really well and what they need to improve.  I also ask some simple questions to make sure they understand basic sentence structure.  I make sure to speak in a positive and encouraging voice to all my students.
  • Thank-you Brandon.  That was a very good answer.  I liked that you answered in a complete sentence and spoke clearly.
  • My kindergarten students are sitting in the circle practicing oral English.  I will ask them a question they have learned and they will have to answer it with a sentence frame and pre-taught vocabulary.
  • I like to eat ice cream.
  • The students must raise their hand to answer the question so I will give them positive feedback when they do.
  • Now I will give feedback about his answer.
