After Oedipus learns about the rumors of the sphinx, he eventually confronts the sphinx himself and kills him. The city of Thebes is proud and honors Oedipus the position as king. Oedipus accepts leadership and marries Queen Jocasta.
Years later and the plague has spread across Thebes. Now that Oedipus is king he has decided to search for who killed king Laius.
Queen Jocasta discovered the truth about her marriage to her son. After hearing the tragic news, Jocasta hung herself when she was alone.
As Oedipus continued to search for the murderer of king Laius, he realizes his prophecy has come true. When realizing the truth, Oedipus finds queen Jocasta dead. In grief of all of the recent events, Oedipus blinds himself with two pins.
