The causes of the first Punic war were... 1.Carthage expanded its empire into Spain and Romans encourage Spain to rebel.So in response Hannibal attacked Rome.
In 218 b.c Hannibal a famous general planned to attack the Romans in Italy.To do this he gathered 46,000 me and 37 elephants.He sailed from Carthage to Italy.Then he marched his army into present day France.After that him and his army crossed the Alps into Italy.The cold mountains and attacks from tribes that lived on them killed half of the army and elephants.Even though they lost,the Carthage army fought well.
