The E in Decide stands for examine your options. Brady can either allow the drugs and alcohol in or he can make them leave. The C stands for consider consequences. His consequences for turning them away would be that he wouldn't be cool anymore, and many of his friends might leave the party. However, if they come in, he could get caught by the cops or his parents, and it could ruin his season and maybe his life. The I stands for Identify influences and values. Brady's influences are his parents and his basketball career, as well as the influence to be cool. His values would be his basketball career as well as being cool. The healthy decision for him is to not allow the drugs or alcohol in.
I should go get the door.
Great Party Brady!
Hey Brady we brought a bunch of weed and beer, come get some!
Brady has a decision to be made. Using the Decide model, he can solve this problem
The decision he has to make is weather to allow drugs and alcohol into his party. He knows he will not do anything illegal himself, however he isn't sure if he wants that in his house. His parents are gone, but they will ground him for a lonog time if they find out. Also, Brady is a basketball star, and doesn't want to ruin his season.
Brady decides to tell them no, and not allow them to bring in any illegal substances or alcohol.
Guys, I would appreciate it if you guys wouldn't bring in any of the weed or beer. It's not okay in my house. If you don't like it you can leave.
Fine! We are gunna go smoke and drink on your yard then! Try to stop us now! Everyone who wants weed or beer come outside! Time to start a real party.
Now Brady has another decision. His options are he can either let it happen, or call his parents, or call the police. His consequences would be being grounded or worse if he calls his parents or the cops. His values and influences would be his parents, his basketball season, and his own moral sense. Brady decides to call his parents. They don't pick up, and evaluating that decision, it didn't solve anything.
