Storyboard Text

  • Riding a bike is fun, but you need your helmet to keep you safe.
  • He's right. Bike helmets do keep you safe, and there's a lot of science that goes into it.  While riding a bike, dangers can be falling, running into something, getting ran over, but bottom line it’s you colliding with something at high speeds.
  • So what the helmet does is prevent large amounts of energy from connecting with your head.   The plastic shell absorbs energy in it breaking, and the sound expelled, then the force of the  impact is spread across the whole area of the helmet, following that the foam lining can be permanently bent in order to absorb more energy, and it slows the acceleration of your head
  • Crash with Helmet
  • That could've been bad. Without a helmet, this pole would've done a lot more damage.
  • Crash without Helmet
  • Helmets are very important to keep riders safe. The force to the head can do detrimental damage. The more we know about this, the safer we are.
