  • "Wreck".  "That’s  good.  Wilson’ll  have  a  little business at last."
  • The ‘death car’ as the newspapers called it, didn’t stop; it came out of the gathering darkness, wavered tragically for a moment and then disappeared around the next bend.
  • ‘O,  my  Ga-od!  O,  my  Ga-od!  Oh,  Ga-od!  Oh,  my  Ga-od!’
  • “the son of a bitch didn’t even stop.”
  • Michaelis wasn’t even sure of its color—he told the first policeman that it was light green. The other car, the one going toward  New  York,  came  to  rest  a  hundred  yards  beyond,
  • By the time Tom, Nick, and Daisy drove down her street three or four cars were crowded around where she lay. Tom said there seems to have been an accident
  • George was struggling to talk to an officer and Tom headed over to find out what happened. He finally said that a car hit her and she was killed instantly.
