Storyboard Text

  • On the way to Rio, Rainsford and Whitney are talking and they state, "'Don't talk rot, Whitney,' said Rainsford. 'You're a big-game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels?' 'Perhaps the jaguar does,' observed Whitney" (Connell 60).
  • As Rainsford is on the boat he hears gunshots and drops his pipe and the author writes, "He lunged for it; a short, hoarse cry came from his lips as he realized he had reached to far and lost his balance. The cry was pinched off short as the blood-warm waters of the Caribbean closed over his head" (Connell 63).
  • After Rainsford meets Zaroff and declines his hunting offer, Zaroff hunts Rainsford and he sets traps up, the author explains, "They must have reached the knife. He shinned excitedly up a tree and looked back.  His pursuers had stopped. But the hope that was in Rainsford's brain when he climbed died, for he saw in the shallow valley that General Zaroff was still on his feet. But Ivan was not. (Connell 79).
