Phoebe, the protagonist and tragic hero, suffers from the common heroic flaw of hubris. She believes she doesn't need to train for a test of strength even though she has no strength. This leads to her losing her kingdom to the minotaur in a fight of strength. However, she later retakes it with a heroic sacrifice throwing herself and the minotaur off a cliff to free the town.
Your child is doomed to fall from Grace in the hands of their greatest enemy!
Please your highness you must train for the trial of strength!
I can defeat this beast on my own.
Newlywed couple King Fordinand and Queen Mackize of Evolgia have given birth to an heir to their throne, Princess Phoebe. Soon after the birth, the blind prophet Beradish bursts in the throne room with a terrible prophecy about their child.
I am your new ruler.
Early into her teen years, Phoebe's parents passed away due to illness. Until it was time for her to take over the crown various royal advisors assumed temporary rule over the kingdom. During this time though, they advised Phoebe to begin training for a royal trial of strength and integrity. She refuses, saying "I can put it off longer, I'm a princess why would strength matter."
The day of Phoebes coronation a messenger boy bursts into the ceremony screaming out, "There is minotaur outside of the city walls! Someone save us!" In response Phoebe exclaims "Don't worry, your new Queen is here to protect these lands from such a beast." Even though the royal advisors strongly advise against such a weak queen fighting against a minotaur they have no power over her stubborn rule.
When Queen Phoebe approaches the minotaur they roar, "I shall take your kingdom even if it means by force!" Before she can say more than the word no, she rammed into a wall by the full force of the minotaur and knocked unconsious instantly.
Later that night, Phoebe wakes up in field outside Evolgia with a throbbing pain in her head. She weeped when she had realized her kingdom had been taken from her by such a beast. But, she soon realized she would have to take her kingdom back she couldn't do it with the pure strength that she now realized she lacked. She soon came up with a plan that might work.
The next morning Phoebe lured out the minotaur by passing rumors of him cheating to her friends in the city. With a pride only challenged by hers she knew this would surely bring the beast to her. The beast was so antagonized by the comments he blindly charged at Phoebe without thinking. This is what she hoped for as when the beast rammed into her he sent them both of the Cliff of Evolgia. The town mourns her for days but she would forever be remembered as a hero.
