A family of three is passing the time by playing chess in an old parlor while it is raining. They are in an old parlor in Laburnum Villa.
The family is shown a cursed evil monkeys foot that offers wishes by a general. The general tells them that it is bad and not to take it but Mr. White snatches it from the fire that the general trys to burn it on and uses its wishes.
An old sergeant came to the parlor and told a story about this cursed monkeys paw that gave you wishes. Then the general trys to burn it and Mr. White takes it not believing the general. After the general leaves Mr. White wishes for 200 pounds.
After Mr. White wishes for 200 pounds a man in a nice tuxedo shows up to their door step. When they talk to the man he tells them that their son had died in a factory. Because of his death the man gives them 200 pounds and fulfills Mr. Whites wish but at the price of his sons life.
Mrs. White persists Mr. White to wish their son back to life. After he wishes for him to come back to life they hear a loud knocking on the door. Mr. White knows that the thing knocking on the door is pure evil.
Mr. White knows that this wish will be pure evil. He then wishes that his son was dead again. The sinister knocking on the door stops.
