In the movie Walkout, latino students were being treated poorly and unfair than others by teachers.
They felt like they were being discriminated and decided to start a walkout to prove that if all the students leave, teachers wont have anyone to teach.
Many students were supporting the walkout, when teachers found out they decided to punish and threaten students that if they did it again they would be expelled and lose their academic scholarships. Many kids took the risk and walked out anyway.
The police was contacted to try and stop the protests that turned into almost the whole school walking out. Policemen were ordered to arrest anyone who disobeyed and they did but also hurt and physically abused the students.
The students didn´t give up. They risked their education to protest and demand equality. Their mentor Sal Castro was arrested and given 13 years in jail for starting the protests.
They took it to the supreme court where the judge ruled that sal castro and the other 13 people who were arrested to be released because there was no reason for them to be locked up. The rest of the kids were happy because they made a change and all were going to college.
