Storyboard Text

  • This is the story of how the Malcolmson's came to Canada
  • It all stared in 1847 on an island just off the main land of Scottland. The Malcolmson's owned a large house and were known for their sailing.
  • Back then families usually consisted of many kids and because of the potato famine that was going on, money and food was scarce.
  • For the three boys it was to cramped and they decided to sail their way to Canada for a new life. They had to overcome many challenges such as lack of food, scurvy, depression, fierce winters and even vikings.
  • Get over here and help me!
  • They're headed straight for us!
  • Their names were Ainsley, Gilroy and Cormac. They arrived in what is now known as PEI and worked as captains on ships. There were many benefits to moving to Canada such as free land, food, and a stable economy.
  • Because you are new immigrants we will provide you with free farm land.
  • This is perfect!
