My name is Amy and I am a rule follower and straight A student so, when my trouble making ex-best friend, Mandy talked to me and walked with me to my class I was more than confused. Talking to her again was comforting, unusual, and scary in away. I can't lie and say I don't miss it, but I would never admit to that. Seeing her in the halls of school and not talking to her has been so hard, but it was needed, our distance from each other.
When I came home from my job, I received a text message from Mandy. She asked me to go to some Halloween party, somehow I thought that maybe it was her way to reconnect our friendship. There was a part of me that thought it was joke, her trying to mess with me. I went against my better judgment and said yes, although I knew it was wrong . I usually listen to my gut instinct but, I thought things might be different this time around.
Mandy texted me and said she would pick me up and take me to the party, so I sat on my front steps. When Mandy showed up, we drove to the party, we had to park like, five blocks from the actual house. As I walked into the party I was in awe, decorations hung from every structure, the kitchen table full of bad decisions, and the people on the dance floor. Mandy decided to drag me on to the dance floor, it was a blast. All of a sudden we heard a huge bang come from the front of the house.
We both decided to see what was happening and what we saw shocked us. There was a tall man standing in the door way. The man had a very insidious look on his face, something that will forever haunt me. He had a weapon that looked like a wrench, he slammed the wrench up against the wall. People were trying to leave and thankfully some did get out, however we were not of the ones who did. We decided together that we were trapped inside, and the only thing to do was, to find a way out.
Trying to find a way out was a lot harder than both of us anticipated, a hot mess to say the least. I took the upstairs and Mandy took the downstairs and basement, trying to get around the intruder was the hardest part of it all. The dangerous man was hard to trick, if only I had listened to my better judgment. Mandy and I got in to a huge argument.
" It is not that serious, would you calm down and just breathe, I just wanted to have a good time."
" I didn't even want to go just wanted to give you another shot, but look where we ended up!"
After hours of searching, we found a way of getting out through the basement window. When we arrived outside there were police waiting for us. We were so busy we didn't even stop and think of the others trapped, so we told the police and they took care of it. The man was dragged out in handcuffs and we returned home safely. I in some way am thankful for the experience. In the end Many and I have grown closer and our friendship had grown stronger.
