You think you're too good for us, just because you finish high school and have a job in town!
Papa and Uncle argue because Papa says he wants to move to town to be closer to his job. Junior later finds out the real reason for moving is because Papa thinks it is time for Junior to learn English. The schooling would be much better than the little country school with all the grades in two rooms.
It would be nice for the boys to go together!
IT'S NOT FAIR! YOU DIDN'T ASK ME!
On Junior's first day at his new school he runs into a boy who tries to trip him. He steps on the foot of the boy. At the playground the boy whose foot he had stepped on earlier in the day finds him and his friends help him form a semi-circle around Junior. Junior beats up Chango and then after a little roughhousing, Chango asks Junior to join their gang, Los Indios.
Does he have money?
Junior and Chango meet up with their enemy and after a few days of figuring out a plan they are finally able to get ahead of him. Once they see him, they jump out in front of him and he stops dead in his tracks. Chango and Junior beat up "John Wayne" After that John gets up and escapes. On the way home Junior realizes that since John lives next door to him that he might tell his mom, and then his mom would tell Junior's mom and then his dad would find out.
Denver's mom and Junior's mom both agree that Denver and Junior should go see the movie showing in the theater. Junior then realizes that Denver never told his mom about what had happened a few days before. Junior's dad isn't too happy with Junior and gives him the option of going with Denver or staying in his room, to which Junior decides to go with Denver.
Junior and Denver walk to the movies together. The gang isn't too happy about Junior bringing Denver to the movies. Junior then convinces the gang that Denver is an Indian from Oklahoma. He pretends to say something in Indian. When they find out he has money, they all freak out and accept him into the gang.
Junior and Denver start being friends and Denver joins the gang. Denver gets to hang out and watch the movie with the gang and they all enjoy the movie. Later on down the road Junior realizes the lesson behind all of this. He learns that life was never guaranteed to be simple.
