Take away her feeding tubes!!!
I can do that ma´am.
Nancy Cruzan got in a car accident on January 11, 1983. This car accident put her in a persistent vegetative state.
The doctor is right
Since she was in a persistent vegetative state, she could not show any mental capability, but could show muscle movement. She had to be tube fed.
Her parents asked for her to have her life ended, the hospital denied this decision, this was later brought to court.
The Missouri Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state's policy over Cruzan's right to refuse treatment.
State policy, it strongly favoring the preservation of life, and that Cruzan's statements to her housemate were unreliable for the purpose of determining her intent.
In the end Cruzan´s right to refuse treatment was later accepted, they pulled the plug and she was killed.
