  • The Author allows the plot to come into play after Witney says "Well, I think i'll turn in now, Rainsford." (Connell) 62

  • Inciting Incident: Rainsford fell off the boat after he heard gunshots and swan to Ship-Trap Island
  • The author allows the plot to progress after Rainsford hears"'Pistol Shot,' muttered Rainsford, swimming on." (Connell) 63
  • Rising Action- Rainsford makes it to the island and meets Zaroff. Zaroff shows Rainsford the island and tells him about his game. huntee gets a 3 hour head start with a knife, Zaroff gets a pistol if huntee stays alive for 3 days they get to leave the island. Zaroff has never lost the game. Zaroff tries to kill Rainsford but Rainsford escapes each time.
