  • Mme. Loisel is a pretty and charming lady. She feels she was born into the wrong class of society and settled for marrying her husband. She dreams of what being wealthy and admired feels like.
  • Climax
  • Mme. Loisel's husband gets an invitation for him and her to go to a ball. She is upset because she doesn't have and formal clothes or perfect jewels and she doesn't to go looking like a poor woman.
  • Falling Action
  • Mme. Loisel goes to visit her friend Madame Forestier and ask her if she can borrow some jewels for the ball but only takes a diamond necklace that looked to be worth a million bucks.
  • Resolution
  • When finished enjoying themselves until four in the morning they decide to go home. When they reached home Mme. Loisel realized the necklace is not around her neck. She must have dropped it and her husband goes looking for it.
  • After hours of searching Mme. Loisel husband was unlucky. Mme Loisel lied to her friend saying she is the necklace fixed before she can return it. They buy a necklace for 40,000 francs after using inheritance, dealings and other dangerous ways to get the money.
  • Years after the ball Mme. Loisel is now living in the lower class instead of the middle class. She had to fire her maid and cook and learn to do everything herself because she could no longer afford it. One day she goes for a walk and see madame Forestier walking with a baby and she decides to confess everything, much to her surprise madame Forestier told her the original necklace was a fake and only cost 400 francs.
