  • Usually, the man of the house would go out and do the work and earn money for the family, while the woman would stay home and take care of the household responsibilities 
  • Women had many household responsibilities. Some of them were, baking bread, brewing beer, curling bacon, salting meat, making pickles jellies, preserves, soap and candles. Woman also were supposed to have some knowledge of medicine 
  • If a women didn't want to work at home or if they didn't have any children, there were some job opportunities for them. They could become a servant or a maid, or work as abbess of a convert. If a woman did not get married, they would become a nun.      R.B.
