  • And yet, people said you fainted at the sight of spirits coming at you.
  • Mary Warren, have you ever seen any spirits?
  • No, sir.
  • She only to pretended to faint, Your Excellency. They're all marvelous pretenders.
  • It was just pretense, sir.
  • Mary, since there are no spirits attacking now, so pretend to faint.
  • Aye, faint. Prove to us how you pretended in the court so many times.
  • Faint?
  • She cannot faint because in the past she was inflicted by spirits. She tries to blind the court!
  • Thought?
  • I fainted because I saw spirits.
  • I thought I saw them, but I didn't.
  • I cannot faint now, sir.
  • Abigail, I bid you search your heart and tell me this. It is possible that the spirits you've seen are illusions-
  • What is it, child?
  • How dare you!  I be mistrusted, denied, questioned like a-
  • I feel a cold wind.
  • Abby, don't do that!
  • Abby!
  • Oh, Heavenly Father, take away this shadow!
  • It's a wind, a freezing wind!
