  • 1824- John Adams and the Corrupt Bargain
  • 1828- Tariff of Abomination
  • 1828- Jackson 1st election
  • John quincy adams ran for president against andrew jackson. While Andrew Jackson won the popular vote the house of representatives had to decide the president and the leader was republican so he chose john quincy adams because he knew more people and was therefore chosen
  • 1828- South Carolina Nullification
  • in 1828 congress passed an act that raised the protective tariff on imported goods which made the south outraged because they relied on imports from europe but the north was not bothered because they manufactured their own goods
  • 1830- Worcester vs. Georgia
  • jackson was elected in 1828 and was the 7th president of the united states and was a democrat and was for the common man
  • 1836- Trail of Tears
  • south carolina despised the tariff and even threatened to secede but jackson sent his navy down to the coast
  • Worcester was going to be arrested for living with the indians within the georgia territory border but he then decided to sue the state government and the government was for him and said that he didn't need to be arrested
  • jackson forced the cherokee indians on a journey that took many months all the way from georgia to west of the mississippi river and there was around 160000 native americans along with armed troops to guide them along the journey and nearly 1/4 of the natives died
