  • The conflict is that the narrator is wanting to take revenge on Fortunato.
  • rising action page 65 - " we are below the river's bed."
  • Rising action page 66- "It was in vain that Fortunato, uplifting his dull torch, endeavored to pry into the depth of the recess. its termination the feeble light did enable us to see. "
  • rising action page 64 - " We had passed through the long walls of piled skeletons, with casks and puncheons intermingling, into the inmost recesses of the catacombs.
  • The climax is when he threw the locks around his waist a couple of times to make sure it was secure enough. The climax was on page 66.
  • Falling Action page 66- " Amontillado continued closing the hole even after he heard a low moaning cry from the depth of recess.
