  • On December 26th 1776 George Washington led the Continental Army across the Delaware to a place by Trenton where they met up with the British who were led by Johann Rall and had a big battle. The British were caught off guard because it was the day after Christmas and the British were drunk from celebrating.
  • The colonists did a sneak attack on the British during a really important time for them in the war. During this time the colonists had lost a lot of battles in a row and were on the verge of defeat. Luckily the colonists pulled through and defeated the British in Trenton.
  • After all of the fighting was over at Trenton and the colonists had won the British fled out of New Jersey, and the colonists settled in Morristown for a few days. If the colonists had lost that battle than they might have lost the whole war. The battle of Trenton was super important for the colonists in helping them win the revolution.
