Act I: When Betty is sick in bed, it comes out that abigail, Tituba and the other girls in the town were participating in witchcraft. Abigail denied she was apart of it even though the town believes that is why Betty is sick.

Act II: It shows that Elizabeth doesn't have trust in john and is very hesitant towards him. She implies he went to salem to visit Abigail because of the pervious affair and she is still upset by it.
Act III: Abigail is lying to the jury that she is being taken over by the spirit of Goody Proctor to get her in trouble in court. She is lying to everyone in the courtroom. John defends his wife and says Abigail is lying.
Act IV: John Proctor first decides to lie to stay alive but he knows that will be going against God. He then decides to choose telling the truth and staying pure rather than living a lie in God's eyes.
