First, I ended serfdom in 1861. Surfs, who even though taking up a majority of the population, lived like slaves. I expected them to be happy, but they weren't exactly thankful.
In 1864, I gave the people the zemstvo, a local government so they could solve their own issues. Again, it didn't win me any popularity points.
Things were going good, the economy was booming thanks to railroads and factories and I was taking land left and right! But I suppose my disdain for nationalistic minorities did get me in trouble in 1881...
