This was the first cabinet battle between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton had a financial plan that included three steps; pay off all war debts, raise government taxes, and create a national bank. Jefferson did not want any of that because he thought that the north already had a lot of power and the south shouldn't have to pay any debts. What ended up happening was that Hamilton gave up the capitol for his financial plan

The whiskey rebellion happened when the government put a tax on whiskey. This started a rebellion with a lot of the citizens especially from the south.The back country farmers were especially mad because the whiskey was very valuable to them.

The Frech Revolution was when tney launched a rebellion against their government for liberty and equality. Hamilton thought that trade with Britain was too important to risk while Jefferson believed that a move to crush the French Revolution was attack. Then Washington decieded to remain neutral which meant that they wouldn't side with either countries

Sadly, one day Washington decided that 8 years was enough of being president and that he should retire. Washinton reminded and encouraged them about two things that he believed very firmly in. He warned them about how the politcal parties could weaken the nation that they have built; he also warned them that they should remain neutral.
The Frech starting attacking our merchent ships so we aaked the French to stop. The French said that they would only stop attacking if we paid them but we declined. We named this the XYZ affair.

The Alien and Sedition acts as when John Adams had the right to deport anybody for saying anything bad about him. The people hated this law and then they figured out that it violated the first amendment. The people did not like Adam's ideas at all.
