The next morning I open my eyes to a beaming sun pinning me to the ground, almost blinding me. I get up on my well-rested feet, and head to the cave, in there I see a girl in a purple hoodie and black sweatpants. Behind an old metal barbed-wire fence, It's Megan! I run over to greet her. She turns to me, she looked weak, hungry, and hopeless. She tries to smile but, she can't. I knew I needed to get help for Megan.
Megan and I continue to hike our way back, we are a bit slower since Megan is slower. She doesn't talk much, she just looks around. Almost if she is completely ignoring me. I look into her eyes and I knew she was in pain, this wasn't the Megan I know. At night I held her hand as she fell asleep.
We manage to make it back to the place where I suddenly appeared many days ago, I placed Megan in the bed. This place still gives me a headache. I think to myslef. Megan had started turning green and was turning pale. I know this look. Megan squeezed my hand as she looked into my eyes, she was scared, I didn't know what to do. I held onto her hand for another ten minutes until she looked back at me, and closed her eyes.
I woke up covered in grass with a heat coming from around my feet, I sit up to notice I am back home. I jump for joy as I hoped all of that was a dream, I stop and looked around, Megan was nowhere to be seen. I trembled as I fell to my knees. Here I am with no mother or sister, living in a shed. I am all alone. I let that thought sink in a bit. How did I go from the happiest person in the world to the most depressed one?
I decided to return to school, it would have been what Mom and Megan wanted for me. I made sure I studied as hard as I could to get into a good college. I knew I should continue to be the good student I was meant to be. I was in desperate need of a new home life, I reached out for help and hoped someone would respond.
It turned out my Mom had a sister, I moved in with them and their two girls. For once I felt as if I was at home again. When I walked in the door the first time, looked into those little girls eyes and decided I would be a big sister I wish I had.
