  • Hello my name is Alma Adams I am the sponsor for H.R. 5363 otherwise known as the FUTURE act. I am the Representative for North Carolina's 12th congressional district. This bill is to "reauthorize mandatory funding programs for historically Black colleges and universities and other minority-serving institutions, and for other purposes. This bill permanently authorizes funding for minority-serving institutions of higher education and increases the authorization of appropriations for Pell Grants."

  • Then it gets sent to the President...
  • On December 9, 2019 the bill was refereed to the house committee of education and labor where they held a hearing. They chose to keep the bill unchanged and then passed the bill to the House.
  • I do not think we have to change the bill. Let's keep it in its identical form and send it to the House.
  • DEC 10, 2019
  • In the House, the bill was ammended. The House added a third section to the bill that secures the disc;osure of tax return information to carry out the higher education Act of 1965. Then it got sent to the Senate.
  • I think we need to ammend this bill and add a section
