  • Tituba
  • Abigail and the girls would go to the woods and would dance and mess around. Tituba would sing her Barbados songs and make chants for the girls, until they were finally caught by Reverend Parris.
  • Tituba
  • “She comes to me every night to go and drink blood!“(Miller 160
  • The girls were asked what they were doing in the woods but none of them would answer. When everyone but the girls were left alone in the room Abigail had threatened them. Abigail was the leader of all the girls. All the girls would listen to Abigail.
  • Reverend Hale
  • “They must be they are weighted with authority.” (Miller 157).
  • Nobody would believe what the girls were saying and the girls would refuse to say what they were doing Abigail had finally confessed and accused Tituba of being with the devil.
  • Reverend Hale
  • “Women pleed with him. Be his helper. What profit him to bleed? Shall the dust praise him. Go to him take his shame.” (Miller 212 ).
  • Abigail had started lying by saying Tituba had made her drink blood. Tituba had finally realized what was going on and then started to go along with it. Tituba had said the devil wanted her to kill Reverend Paris and that she had been with the devil but never saw anybody else with the devil. Tituba and Abigail started the lie.
  • Reverend Parris had called Reverend Hale to see if there was witchcraft in the town. Hale saw himself as an important person that was well educated and knew a lot of witchcraft and he thought highly of himself. When Hale went to go see Betty all he thought about was about witchcraft and so did everybody else. Hale made other think witchcraft was happening in the girls.
  • Hale was angered by the court and had quit the court after John Proctor was sent to hang. The day Proctor were to hang Hale came back to convince the court that all the people that were accused were all innocent. John Proctor had finally confessed but would refuse to sign a confession. In the end, John Proctor was hanged with two other who had also been accused.
