Problem: Brittany ordered in food, again, and now needs to clean up. She needs to dispose of her takeout container.
Problem: Brittany is environmentally conscious. She wants to make sure she disposes of the container properly. She recently learned that many of the items she's been recycling, don't actually end up being recycled, but are thrown out and can end up in the oceans.
Recycle item. Make sure to wash first!
You live in: Toronto Item: Take Out Container
Problem: She looks at the bottom of the container and see's a symbol for recycling, but doesn't know if it'll be recycled by the facilities in her area. She could throw it in the recycling bin, only for it to end up in the oceans still.
Solution: She takes out her phone and uses the ReUse app to take a photo of the recycling symbol on the container. The app recognizes the symbol, the object, and her geographic location.
Solution: Using the information ReUse gathered from the photo (with an option to edit if it isn't correct), ReUse suggests how to dispose of the container according to the rules of the local disposal service. As well, ReUse shows other options for the waste based on user submissions.
"I washed the container, and used it to hold makeup brushes!" - Elaine
Solution: Using the entry from Elaine, and having an available evening, Brittany decides to reuse to the container and make it into a container for her toiletries. Way better than the container ending up in the oceans! Thanks ReUse app!
