  • Marlon the Martian's Journey
  • Marlon the Martian was flying from Jupiter when he crashed his spaceship into a tree. He was thrown from thespaceship and landed on the ground 12 feet away. The house is 9 feet tall. Hewants to know at what angle is he looking up. He uses trig to figure out tan-1(9/12)=36.9 He is looking at a 37 degree angle.
  • Marlon can't reach his spaceship, so he borrows a 13 ft ladder. He places the ladder at a 34 degree angle. He uses trig to figure out how far the ladder is from the tree. 13cos(34)= 10.8. The ladder is 11 ft from the tree.
  • Marlon and his spaceship are reunited!
  • Marol wants to go home after a hard day. Jupiter is 16 ft in the sky. He is looking at Jupiter at a 23 degree angle. He uses trig to figure out the fastest way home. 16/sin23= 40.9. The fastest way home is by traveling 41 feet.
  • Marlon finally arrives home.
