The sea turtles have variation because it allows the turtles to live. A sea turtle who is born and fits in with their environment will survive and pass on their genes.
Overproduction allows some sea turtles to be picked off by predators and still allows some to make it alive. This goes together with natural selection.
Competition allows only the best traits to be passed on to the next generation.
These sea turtles need to survive and reproduce. If the organism survives but does not reproduce it is not fit for its environment.
