Ernest Shackleton was a polar explorer who would take risks. He was a leader in the 20th Century. In his childhood he was an extremely focused reader and had a growing imagination.
He was an explorer travelling to the icy place Antarctica.
The forcing father wanted him to move the generation forward as a doctor.
His incredible first exploration was in 1901 with his good mate Robert Scott. They had come nearer than anyone else in that time but they had to stop the expedition due to unexpected winds and blizzards.
1908 had come and he led an expedition to the freezing South Pole on a ship called Nimrod. They had finally reached the South Pole on the 15th January 1909.
He was bravely awarded with a medal by the Royal Geographical Society also with Knighthood. He was now known as Sir Ernest Shackleton.
