  • King Alfred
  • Founder of the modern English Nation
  • When he first became king, Britain was divided into warring kingdoms. Vikings, which were the reason arge governments couldn't protect themselves creating a need for feudalism, frequently landed on British soil.
  • It seemed as if the Danes might take over, so King Alfred had to with draw.
  • Fortunately King Alfred kept a level head and devised a sneaky and effective counter attack.
  • He was also very interested in education and translated several latin works into english.
