  • Main Impact
  • -Daniel Hale Williams -pioneer heart surgery -cardiothoracic diseases - x-ray, antibiotics, tools, etc
  • Since Dr.Dan's open heart surgery, operations such as this one have evolved tremendously. Researchers have studied the mechanics of the body in correlation to open heart surgery and have made this surgery less invasive, more sterile, and quicker recovery.
  • More than 3,200 people need a heart transplant each year. Williams' heart surgery paired with exponential technology resources allowed for further development to save thousands of lives.
  • Daniel Hale Williams' pioneering of heart surgery has developed as technological discoveries were revolutionizing the world of medicine. This has impacted science by stimulating research and the improvement of techniques required. Since then, diseases have been discovered and education about anatomy and medicine has evolved.
