This war was fought to see who got to settle in the Ohio River Valley. The British colonies decided to work together to defeat the French. The British stayed in the Ohio River Valley but the French wanted them to leave. The British deafeated the Indians in less than a year.
This document recognized the Indians' right to the land. It prevented the colonists to go west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists were very angry because they wanted to settle on the land but couldn't.
Boston Tea Party
After the French and Indian war, Great Britain was deeply in debt. So they turned to the colonists for help.The new tax was imposed on all American colonists. It required them to pay tax on every piece of printed paper they used.
The Townshend Acts were a series of laws passed by the British government on the American colonies 1767. They placed and took some freedoms away from the colonists such as ; giving British officials the right to search the colonists' houses and businesses and set up new courts in America to prosecute smugglers.
Tax on Tea
On December 16th, 1773, The Sons of Liberty, planned to show Parliament how they felt about the Tea Act. They went on the British ship Darthmouth that was docked in Boston Harbor. They framed the Indians by dressing up like them, then dumped loads of tea into the water.
The British passed these laws as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port Act was the first intolerable act passed. It was direct punishment to the city of Boston. The act closed the port of Boston go all ships until the colonists paid for the tea they dumped in the harbor.
