In the same year as the Quartering act, parliament passed the stamp act in 1765. This made it so you needed to buy a special stamp and put it on all printed materials
Sure, but you also need to buy a stamp with that.
This stamp act is baloney!
This was a tax that colonists especially loathed. Many colonies thought that this act was purely to raise money for the British and it was taxing the colonies without the consent of their chosen leaders. Many protested the tax, some people took to the streets and others boycotted anything with a stamp on it.
I'm not buying anything with a stamp on it.
In 1767, the Townshend act was passed as a way to get duties from goods that colonists would buy from Britain. On of the main goods that was taxed was tea
The British have done it again! If they keep on taxing my goods then I'll just become a smuggler.
