  • Atticus chooses to defend Tom Robinson
  • Atticus respects Boo Radley
  • Atticus respects the Cunninghams
  • Despite everyone in the community thinking Atticus should NOT defend Tom Robinson because of the color of his skin, Atticus chooses to do so because he believes in his innocence. 
  • Provide Nutritional Food for the Hungry
  • Boo is very mysterious. He chooses to stay inside. Atticus makes sure that his children respect Boo's privacy and choices. 
  • Advocate for Rights you believe in 
  • The Cunninghams are poor. Atticus allows them to pay in items rather than money. He is quick to tell Jem and Scout not to embarrass them because they are poor. 
  • Immigration Rights
  • Obesity is a huge problem in the United States, but so is hunger. We should provide healthy options for those in poverty to combat obesity and hunger. 
  • It is an American right to protest. In order to combat social injustices, participating in protests and marches advocates for rights you believe in. 
  • YES!
  • It is a controversial issue, but social justice calls people to advocate for those society has outcast. People deserve "life, liberty, and happiness" because they are human, not based on their status as an American citizen.
