Storyboard Text

  • The Crossing of the Delaware River
  • Finally! Our last ship is almost across after 10 hours!
  • Deciding To Attack
  • I feel we've lost our element of surprise. We're going to be attacking in broad daylight. When we get there it will be daytime.
  • Hmm...
  • What's the problem, sir?
  • Reporting Enemy Sights
  • No sir!
  • They must have called the attack off.
  • Any sign of the Americans?
  • The Continental army has crossed the Delaware in boats after ten hard hours.
  • Marching To Trenton
  • Shh! We're almost there!
  • Shh! We're almost there!
  • George Washington is considering whether to go back across the Delaware River or continue and attack. He chose to attack, because he felt that going back would take more effort than proceeding.
  • Defeating The Hessians
  • RETREAT!!!
  • FIRE!!!
  • The Hessians are on the lookout for the Americans, but they were so late that the Hessians thought that they weren't going to attack.
  • Deciding To Stay and Fight
  • Sure!!
  • But they were just delayed, and the Continental army continues toward Trenton.
  • The Americans catch the Hessians by surprise, and the Hessians barely escape.
  • The Battle of Trenton was the Continental army's first victory, and convinced them to stay longer and fight for their country for three more months.
  • Let's all stay for 3 months more! We can win this!!!
  • Why not?
