In Sparta, Men were forced at ages as young as 6 or 7 to fight in the army. Women had to raise strong children because if a child was weak or had something wrong about it, it would be left to die.
In Athens, men were allowed to choose to be in the army or not, but unfortunately women did not have as many rights as Sparta. For example, women were not allowed to see male visitors unless they were related or if the man was her husband.
In Sparta, when a king dies they use the process of monarchy. On the other hand, Athenians annually elect their rulers.
