Hey Michael! Everybody has been talking about "Cell Theory". What is that?
Hey Mark. Cell Theory is the historic scientific theory that living organisims are made up of cells
I have heard of many scientists that contributed to the cell theory. To start off with, who's Robert Hooke?
Robert Hooke discovered "The Cell" when he was looking at a piece of cork through a microscope and the chambers he saw looked like cells in 1665
What about Scientist Schleiden?
In 1838, Matthias Schleiden, concluded that all plant tissues are composed of cells and that an embryonic plant arose from a single cell. He stated that the cell is the basic building block of any plant matter.
ahh, okay. what about scientist schwann? Why is he related and/or connected to the cell theory?
In 1839, Theodor Schwann concluded after years of studying animals, that all animal tissues are made up of cells
In 1855, Rudolf Virchow concluded that all "living cells" come from "pre-existing" cells
So that's why these scientists are contributed to the cell theory? But why is the cell theory so important? Everybody keeps talking about it.
Summary: The Cell Theory is proof that every living thing on Earth contains one or more cells. The cell theory is important because it defines what it means to be alive. In further explanation, the theory shows the fact that cells are crucial to life.
